Impact Investing and Financial Inclusion for Development

A sequence of interdisciplinary applied research projects at CCS has been focusing on results and policy implications of impact investing. Financial inclusion as it is considered a pioneer in impact investing and a contributor to a range of sustainable development goals. Current projects focus on sustainability strategies of Swiss banks, on socially motivated self-regulations, and on capital structure choices of sustainability-oriented investors and service providers.

Past projects ranged from establishing non-financial metrics for financial inclusion markets from both macro and impact investment perspectives, the role of framework conditions for sustainable economic growth of microcredit clients, investor motivations for social impact to de-biasing lending algorithms of microfinance lenders, while balancing social and environmental with financial objectives.
